Anyone who has been surfing the net for several years, before online guides, tutorials, forums and other similar means took over (even the Internet itself as we know and use it today), will surely have come across Yahoo Answers. A platform with a very simple purpose. A user asks a question, whoever wants to answer. Just like the various online forums today. But yet, after 16 years of honorable service, Yahoo Answers is permanently closed.
The date of the latter will be next 4st May, in exactly one month. After the acquisition of Yahoo by Verizon Media Group for the figure of approx 5 billion dollars, which took place in 2017, the most important of the changes, perhaps, is the latter. The reason for this closure is rather simple and obvious. In recent years, the service has become less and less popular, making the company take action and trying to turn to different products, shifting both economic and physical resources, in favor of more current content.
Below we leave you to the message that Yahoo wanted to publish and share to inform all its subscribers:

We launched Yahoo Answers sixteen years ago to help people around the world connect and share information. With you and millions of other users, we have created the best place on the web to ask and answer questions on a variety of topics, creating a global knowledge sharing community. While we couldn't have been more proud of what we've accomplished together, we're contacting you today to let you know that Yahoo Answers will close on May 4, 2021.
Although Yahoo Answers was a core part of Yahoo's products and services, it has become less popular over the years as our members' needs have changed. To that end, we have decided to shift our resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that better serve our members and deliver on Yahoo's promise of delivering high-quality, trustworthy content.
As of April 20, you will no longer be able to post new questions or answers. However, you can still view the questions and answers posted until May 4th. On May 4th the site will be closed. If you'd like to download a copy of your posted questions and answers, you can do so by logging into your privacy dashboard and requesting a download. You will be able to do this until June 30, 2021, after which time your Yahoo Answers data will be securely deleted and no longer available. Closing Yahoo Answers will not affect your Yahoo account or other Yahoo services.
