Xbox Series X: Phill Spencer explains why this design was chosen

Officially presented during the The Game Awards 2019, The new Xbox Series X, formerly known as Project Scarlett, in recent hours is making a lot of talk about itself, especially as regards the design and the name assigned to the peripheral. The new console of Microsoft products, available for purchase during Christmas festivities of the 2020, it is about as wide as an Xbox One controller and approximately as high as three of these, distinguished by the iconic illuminated Xbox logo (identical to the one that distinguished the previous generation), which will also act as a power button and a slot for inserting discs. Simple and elegant look, which fully follows the minimalist lines of the previous one Xbox One X. At the moment, the “extremely” minimal design of the new console has not convinced users very much.

In the past hours Phill Spancer, during an interview with Gamespot, made it clear that the design chosen for Xbox Series X is functional from an engineering point of view and that the goal of the Redmond house is to make the console "disappear" from the entertainment center, trying to make it as silent as possible, thanks to the use of a single large fan that pushes the air from above. L' eMicrosoft's xecutive Vice President of Gaming ha aggiunto:

There is always this tension between the design, the acoustics, the cooling system and the functions of the console. We absolutely didn't want to compromise the functionality of the new peripheral. I was just incredibly impressed with the design they managed to come up with.
