WWE di 2K it will no longer be developed by the Japanese studio Yuke, thus ending a collaboration of almost 20 years of work begun in the distant '99 with Smackdown for PSX; game development will pass into the hands of Visual concepts who co-developed the latest installments of the series. This is 2K's statement to VGC:
“WWE 2K20 will be developed by Visual Concepts, who have collaborated with Yuke on the development of the series since WWE 2K14. As we continued to invest in the WWE 2K franchise, we saw the Visual Concepts team display incredible passion, talent and commitment to the future of the series. We thank Yuke for their years of collaboration and are thrilled to see what the Visual Concepts team will bring to the franchise going forward ”.
Subsequently, the Yuke studio wanted to confirm the news stating that it will continue to provide support to 2K with regards to the game engine. Furthermore, the Japanese studio has confirmed that it is working on a new original title always with a wrestler theme.
In the last few chapters, the two companies have often divided the tasks between design, art and technology led by Yuke, while the animations, the audio department and the script was in the hands of Visual Concepts. Often criticized in recent chapters due to a decline in quality, at the beginning of the year it was revealed publicly by 2K Sports that they believed themselves partly responsible for the latest failures.
What future awaits us now for the WWE series?
