    Valve officially announces the release date of Half-Life: Alyx!

    Valve, the creators of Half-Life and the platform Steam, have officially announced Half-Life: Alyx, a new chapter in the award-winning saga that will be based on the technology of virtual reality. The launch of the highly anticipated title is expected on Steam a March 2020. Maybe some fans might feel disappointed that this isn't a real one Half-Life 3, but it is clear that it is still a new chapter in the series in all respects. The adventure will focus on Alyx Vance and his father Eli, characters we have already learned about in previous chapters of the series, and will be set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.



    Gabe Newell, founder of Valve, said:

    Everyone at Valve is thrilled to be returning to the world of Half-Life. Virtual reality stimulated us. We have invested heavily in this technology. […] Dedicating ourselves to such an ambitious VR game is really exciting. [..] We can't wait for people to experience it.



    In addition to Valve's headset, Half-Life: Alyx will also be compatible with Oculus Rift, HTC Live e Windows Mixed Reality. More details on this highly anticipated title will be revealed during the awards ceremony of the 2019 Game Awards which will take place on 13 December.

    It is already possible to pre-order the title on Steam. For Valve Index owners it will be possible to obtain it completely free of charge.
