Valheim - Guide to the craftsman's table, blast furnace and black metal

In Valheim, title developed by Iron gate ab, the manufacture of instruments, weapons and so on is fundamental for survival in this fantastic region set in an imaginary Scandinavian myth. This is why having the craftsman's table available brings many advantages. It is also essential to unlock the blast furnace where you can create the Black Metal Bars. These will be used to forge some of the most powerful armor and weapons in the game. In this guide we will give you the necessary information to access the craftsman's table and the blast furnace.

The following text may contain narrative and playful spoilers on Valheim, the latest work by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain Studios. We therefore advise you to continue carefully in order to avoid any major and minor spoilers, which could undermine your play experience.

You will have access to the table only after fighting the fourth boss, Namely Moder dragon, of which we refer you to our dedicated guide.

The craftsman's table in Valheim

When Moder dies, he will not only drop his trophy head and dragon tears, but unlock the craftsman's table and blast furnace. Tears are very important, so it is advisable to collect them all, as they are used in the creation of the craftsman's table, a type of station for the creation of revolving wheels, blast furnaces and windmills.

The blast furnace

To make the blast furnace you will need the following materials:

  • craftsman table
  • 5 Surtling Hearts
  • 10 iron
  • 20 stone
  • 20 noble wood

The black metal

Black metal is a very useful material as you progress through the game, as it will serve you to improve items and equipment, as well as the best paraphernalia.

First you need the raw material, namely the black metal scraps. These discards are obtained as loot by defeating the fuling located in the Plains area. There are several types of fulings, which would be Berseker, Shaman and Standard. Anyone can give you Scraps of Black Metal as a reward when you defeat them.

Now that you have the scraps, go to the blast furnace to melt them and create the black metal ingots.
