Valheim - Guide on how to build a windmill and what it is for

To recover health a Valheim, the early access game on Steam, you will need a substantial supply of food. Given that it is not possible to consume two portions of the same product consecutively, it is practically necessary to have a good supply of food prepared with the recipes. The basic products to carry out the recipes are raw ingredients, which with your skill as a chef you will transform into substantial foods. To show off your culinary skills you need a specific structure which would be, in fact, the windmill. In this guide we will see how to build it and how to use it.

The following text may contain spoilers about Valheim, the latest work developed by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain Studios. We therefore advise you to continue carefully in order to avoid any major and minor spoilers, which could undermine your play experience.

What makes a windmill in Valheim

Windmills turn barley into barley flour, which is essential for cooking several highly nutritious recipes that offer a huge supply of health and stamina. Barley is found in the Plain, where the Fulings are on guard. There are four recipes, namely Sanguinaccio, Bread, Fish Rolls and Meatloaf.

Having 50 parts of barley, you will get 20 parts of barley flour. Most recipes call for 1 to 4 parts of flour each.

How to get a windmill

As already described in our guide, in the Mountain Biome, after defeating Moder, the fourth boss of the game, you will receive as a reward some materials that can be used to build a craftsman's table. Without this it will not be possible to build a windmill, and, for convenience, try to build it in the vicinity of where you decide to place the mill.

To make the mill you will also need the iron nails, which can be obtained with the iron bars present in the forge, which you will unlock after building a boat, and for this we refer you to our guide.

Since the windmill will work with the wind in a realistic way, when it blows stronger, the flour production will be greater than when the wind is little more than a breeze. There is no limit of mills, you can make as many as you want, indeed, the more you have, the greater the production.

That's all there is to know about how to build a windmill and how to use it. For more information on Valheim or other games, we refer you to our section dedicated to guides, always updated with all the titles of the moment.
