Valheim - Guide on how to build a boat dock

In Valheim, the branded game Iron Gate AB, you will soon have learned to be a perfect sailor and to build boats and ships. During your explorations of the world, there will come a time when you will need a landing place for your vessel. As with everything you will need to keep growing throughout the adventure, the right structures and the right materials to start a construction. In this guide we will explain how to build a pier in Valheim.

Where to build a pier in Valheim

The first thing to do is to choose the most suitable place to build the pier. It goes without saying that it must be close to the water, and possibly close to your home. The construction of the pier starts from the ground, not immediately attached to the shore, before reaching out towards the water. Therefore, avoid laying the foundations too close to the water, or on the water itself, otherwise the construction will prove to be a bit troubled. Also avoid building where the water is too deep. If you do this you will have the problem that the beams may not attach properly to the dock.

How to build a pier

The primary material for construction is plain wood and core wood. When you have them both, use Core Wood to build and install support beams along the shore. Then move on to the next step by laying the wooden floorboards on the ground, until you reach the top of the support beams. Repeat these steps as many times as needed to extend and customize your dock however you like. It would not be bad to also build a garaging for boats, but be careful to leave a lot of space between it and the water so that you can fit the dock and the boat.
