La Games Workshop announces the resumption of commercial activities in some countries and the date for the reopening of online sales and distribution by reactivating the e-commerce service starting from May 1st.
It seems that the emergency COVID-19 is gradually returning, allowing the company to take over some of its sales channels, both by reactivating the e-commerce channel and the retail store network. In fact, despite the reopening of some of the chain's stores last week Warhammer in a limited number of countries, the Nottingham house today announced that starting May 1st, it will also be able to resume sales and distribution through their online channel. Security first of all
Also within the same press release, the English company announces the use of measures to maintain social distancing and guarantee all safety not only for workers but also for customers who will have contact with their staff, allowing safety and compliance with the regulations imposed by the various governments. The adoption of these rules will be the basis for the accelerated reopening of many points of sale around the world and the resumption of activities in central distribution warehouses.
What will happen to e-commerce?
Games-workshop.com will not take charge of any new new orders, because you will first want to cancel pending orders and fulfill those already collected and never fulfilled before resuming normal activity, which the company expects to restore starting from Friday 1st May. However, the following rules must be respected as it will not yet be a complete return to normal situation:
With many of our retail stores still closed, the ship to store delivery option will not be available. To compensate for this, the free shipping threshold will be reduced by 50% in all territories where this option was previously available.
With the warehouse managed to ensure greater safety for its workers, the processing, packaging and shipping of the various orders may take longer than expected.
With factories still closed, some products may be out of stock temporarily and it may not be possible to get them back in the short term.
The purpose of the house is to resume distribution in a progressive manner, starting first with the essential products and then gradually proceeding to supply everything completely.
Support the independents
The company is well aware of the importance of independent stores to support the spread of the Hobby and is aware of the importance of this channel within the retail network. For this reason, also counting on the loyalty of the players towards their independent stores, it has announced the exclusive distribution of a new model of Colonel Catachano which will be exclusively available in limited edition at this type of stores.
A gesture much appreciated by both the community and the reseller network, a sign that Games Workshop cares a lot about this channel.
Despite these first positive signs, the COVID-19 emergency, although it is slowly returning, is long from being overcome.
