La GDC (Game Developers Conference) this year, due to the pandemic of COVID-19, will be entirely online. The organizers of the event initially thought of a hybrid, with part of the appointments in San Francisco and the rest electronically, however, in order to avoid what happened in theprevious edition, these days have communicated away Twitter that all conferences and workshops dedicated to video game developers will be available via the Internet only, in addition, everything will be spread between the months of March and July, and no longer concentrated in a single week. Below we list all the events announced so far, waiting for new information:
- GDC Masterclass: (4-5 March) Workshop dedicated to developers with particular attention to the “most common difficulties faced by sector professionals”.
- GDC Showcase: (March 15-19) A showcase where conferences, lectures dedicated to the world of development and much more will be held.
- GDC 2021: (July 19-23) The main event.
- Independent Game Festival (IGF) e Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCAs) (July 21) the nominations for the IGF will be announced in May, for the GDCAs more information will arrive soon.
Katie Stern, organizer and spokesperson for the Game Developers Conference said they will be there other events that will surround the main appointment, that is the one from 19 to 23 July. However, given the far from easy situation for organizing events of this type, they have not yet been officially communicated. We will therefore have to wait a little longer to understand what the GDC will still have in store for us. We remind you that the event is considered one of the most important appointments for the videogame sector, it could therefore be the scene of surprise announcements or information regarding titles currently in development.
