Stop to "Secondary Ticketing" from July 2019

    Stop to

Thanks to Sergio Battelli of Movement 5 Stars, in the financial maneuver that became law on December 30th, it was included an amendment that will put an end to the phenomenon of "Secondary Ticketing".

Starting from 1 July 2019, the law will require the sale of nominal tickets only for all events that will be held in structures with a capacity of more than 5.000 spectators (except for events such as operas, ballets, circuses, classical or jazz concerts).

These are the words of Battelli, through a post published on his official Facebook profile:

[...] to give space and freedom to the passion of the spectators and, on the other hand, to break down a hateful and burdensome mechanism both for people and for the State: the offshore companies that in all these years have resold tickets to more than increased prices, in fact, they have not paid a euro of taxes in our country.

To access the events area it will be mandatory for everyone, including minors, to present a valid identity document. By allowing everyone to buy tickets at their nominal price, the text aims to tear down the secondary market, obliterating both those offshore companies and the touts at the gates. Buying tickets to an event at their fair price seems like an obvious thing, but up until now, this has not been the case. This is why I believe this rule is a little big revolution.

In case of inability to attend the event, after the purchase of the ticket, it will be possible to re-sell the ticket itself, or to replace the name through the primary sales platforms, at the purchase price:

There is no increase except for the management costs of the brokerage practice applied transparently by those same channels. The procedures for resale and name change will be defined in detail by secondary regulations through a provision of the Revenue Agency which will be published within 60 days of the entry into force of this law.

A great victory for everyone, except for those who in recent years have shamelessly profited from the passion of the public.
