Star Wars: Squadrons, the title will not have a next-gen version

Through his personal Twitter account Ian Frazier, creative director of EA Motive, stated that Star Wars: Squadrons, the new multiplayer shooter title dedicated to the famous cinematic universe, will not have a next-gen version available PlayStation 5 e Xbox One. So bad news for Star Wars fans, who will have the opportunity to play the title on next generation consoles simply through the backward compatibility. This is a particular decision, which differs considerably from those of the other software houses, which intend to release versions of their titles specifically designed to make the most of the hardware and features introduced with the new consoles.

We're not planning a separate version of the game for next-gen consoles, but yes, backward compatibility with older versions should work.

The title of the Canadian software house will allow players to undertake some exciting space battles aboard the famous Tie Fighter of the empire or of the X-wing of resistance, and in addition to a single player story mode, it will offer players a substantial multiplayer component to be able to show their skills in battle and compare themselves with other users. Star Wars: Squadrons will be available on PlayStation 4 Xbox One and PC starting from 2 October 2020.
