Through the official Twitter profile dedicated to its subscription service, Electronic Arts announced that Star wars squadrons will be available from March within the catalog of EA Play. The title will also be playable for free for all subscribers to the service Microsoft Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Star Wars Squadrons - which as you may have guessed by now is a title based on space combat - was developed by Motive studios for Electronic Arts and made its debut on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2 2020, under the direction of Ian S. Frazier. The graphics engine that supports the game world is the Frostbite 3, famous for its use in the Battlefield series. The player is called upon to take control of space ships belonging to the Galactic Empire or the New Republic. By gaining experience during the fights it is possible to unlock new weapons, shields, upgrades of various kinds and, of course, cosmetic items. The title is set in a historical period following the battle of Endor and the resulting destruction of the second Death Star. The story follows Rao Highmoon, the Vanguard Squadron of the Republic (whose job is to protect the Starhawk), Case Kassandora and the Titan Squadron of the Empire, tasked with destroying the Starhawk instead.
