Star Trek: Picard - Review of the first two episodes of the series

Star Trek: Picard hits warp speed on Amazon Prime Video, the world's most popular e-commerce streaming service. The name Jean-Luc Picard is a legend in himself. The saga that saw the highly decorated captain of the Starfleet, or Star Trek: The Next Generation, was a "stellar" success, to the point that today the same Patrick Stweart, an actor who lends the face and likeness to the character, is one of the producers of this new adventure. We got to see the first two episodes of the season, namely the episode "Remebrance " and the second, called "Maps and Legends“: Here's how it went!

Back to the origins

Picard is an old man today, lives his life in a small vineyard in his native land, peaceful as a man who has influenced, in the course of his life, the political trend of the known universe and beyond. Despite his dreams, not entirely serene, our former captain does his best in his own small way to try to drive out his demons, mistakes he has made and of which he is not proud. But when a young woman from who knows where approaches him and asks for help, the man of action in Picard resurfaces and it is impossible for him to resist that call. Without revealing anything about the plot, we can tell you that time does not seem to have passed and that Captain Picard is definitely back.

A new beginning full of the past

For those who lived in the nineties, it will be easy to understand why the series Star Trek: The Next Generation has been defined as one of the pillars of science fiction, a series that then gave life to several films in the saga, acting as a link between the old and the new, pumping life into characters such as Data the android, Worf the Klingon who joined Starfleet and many other friends and enemies. Meet the captain again Jean-Luc Picard it is an indescribable emotion: first of all because time seems to have stopped to pick up where our hero left off. Many would be the deeds of the protagonist to narrate, but what vibrates stronger than his adventures is the realization of this new series, which undoubtedly has not been taken lightly. In the course of the first two episodes we watched, we feel that there is a lot to expect from this new incarnation of the world of Star Trek.

Star Trek: Picard - Review of the first two episodes of the series

We will meet friends who will be happy to see us and others not, as well as we will clash with myths and legends of the past, a past that cries out loud Romulus and Borg, two names that cannot go unnoticed in the ears of those accustomed to this timeless saga. As we said, in Star Trek: Picard no expense was spared, including cutting-edge special effects, long shots where you can get lost (let's not deny it, if we had been at home and not at the cinema we will have paused several times to admire the magnificence of some structures and ships that are seen in the first two episodes. NDR), mysteries, subterfuges and many dramas of the past ... already the past; probably this series requires a greater effort on the part of the user final, that if he were to fasten from the past that precedes it, he would risk enjoying a third of the goodies and links - hidden or obvious - present in the plot. We can't wait to find out how this story will evolve: one thing is certain, if we could have pressed the "next episode" button we would have done it without batting an eye!
