During the'Xbox Game Showcase in July, several titles announced wowed fans of the Redmond House, including the latest effort of GSC Game World, or STALKER 2. Furthermore, as the year just ended, the development team showed the audience a teaser trailer through which we got to see the graphics engine in action. In the last few hours GSC Game World has provided some details on the title and the status of its development via the official website of Xbox. In particular, GSC Game World has confirmed that STALKER 2 will have a new protagonist, namely a lone stalker named Skif:
We will see this world through the eyes of a stalker named Skif: remember this name, you will hear it often. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, STALKER 2 will introduce a completely new main protagonist. His actions will shape the great new chapter in the history of the Zone.
As for the teaser mentioned above, which you can find at the top of the article, the short scene takes place in the ruined school on the outskirts of the dead city of Pripyat. The developers have talked about such images, talking specifically about the emissions:
And here it is: an emission. An element that distinguishes the STALKER series is a powerful release of anomalous energy from the center of the Zone. The emission occurs from time to time and is extremely dangerous: it can kill you in the blink of an eye. When a stalker notices the start of the broadcast, he should immediately hide and wait for it to finish, hoping he can proceed. This is why Skif is in a hurry: he is definitely seeking shelter in the neighboring building.
According to GSC, the development of STALKER 2 is "going smoothly" and they are on track to deliver the experience of 4K ray tracing promise for Xbox Series X. The game, like all other Microsoft exclusives, will be available at Day One also on Xbox Game Pass. As for the release date, there are no news on this.
