Spider-Man 3: Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Doctor Strange

Spider-Man 3: Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Doctor Strange

As reported exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange inside Spider-Man 3, the third chapter of the new saga dedicated to the famous superhero played by Tom Holland. Within the title Strange will take the role of mentor di Peter Parker, formerly occupied by Tony Stark di Robert Downey Jr. inside Spider-Man: Homecoming e Nick Fury di Samuel L. Jackson in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Over the past few weeks, the film has been the protagonist of a large number of indiscretions and unexpected official revelations, such as the one that sees the return of Jamie Foxx as the supervillain Electro, the actor-character combination previously seen within The Amazing Spider-Man 2 of 2014, which he saw Andrew Garfield as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Many have justified the figure of Electro within Spider-Man 3 by using the concept of multiverse, and the presence of Doctor Strange in the title does nothing but give value to the theory, considering that Cumberbatch will soon be busy with the filming of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which will explore the theory of the connection between universes. Filming for Spider-Man 3 is expected to start in Atlanta this week, while Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to start in London this month. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, former director of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, and is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 17 2021, although the release date may be postponed due to the current health emergency. So we just have to wait for further information about the title and the other works of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will also soon start filming Thor: Love and Thunder, Directed by Taika Waititi.
