Sony Bend Studio: will the game in the works be a new open world IP?

Sony Bend Studio: will the game in the works be a new open world IP?

As you well know, in the past few days we have reported that Jeff Ross and John Garvin, creators of Days Gone, have decided to leave Sony Bend Studio, making the possibility of making a second chapter of the game very difficult now. But according to a recent report by Twisted Voxel, Sony's new first party studio is not going through a difficult period, far from it, since it is working on a AAA project, therefore of high budget, not yet announced.

It had previously emerged that Sony Bend Studio was working on a new game that would have as strengths: thefacial animation "Cinematic quality", the3D audio and the introduction of a can online multiplayer component. Now, months after the last update, we were able to find out more information on the new IP of the US software house. According to what emerged from the Linkedin profiles of the various employees of Sony Bend Studio, the development team would have started work on the new project immediately after the release of Days Gone, in 2019, using a latest generation lighting technique, the Shotgun-Jira.

The new feature announced in March 2019, according to the information in the official blog, would guarantee one better interaction and communication between the development phase and the engineering workflows. The hypothesis that the project in question does not refer to the sequel to Days Gone finds further confirmation from the account of Silas Baker, programmer at Bend Studio, who in September 2019 claimed to be working on a project not yet announced.

As for the making of the game world, that's along the lines of Days Gone should be an open world, the software house would have entrusted the task to Ron Allen, senior lead designer. Once again, the chronology of the new work coincides perfectly with the dates previously indicated, namely after the release of the adventure of Deacon St. John. This brings us to the two new figures sought by the US software house; one like animation intern, which helps create the gameplay and narrative sequences for one action title, and the other as Lead FX, which requires experience in developing Unreal Engine.

We point out that also Days Gone used as a game engine theUnreal Engine Epic, so there's a good chance the next Sony Bend Studio can use the same graphics engine are very high. Waiting to find out more details on the new title in development at the US software house, at the moment we do not have the certainty that it is actually the sequel of the previous work, or a totally unpublished IP.
