    There are many screenings and productions of films and television series that have been suspended or postponed due to the emergency Coronavirus. This crisis has changed the way film studios manage the release of their titles, pushing them to focus primarily on versions home-video. Among these also Paramount Pictures who decided to considerably anticipate the digital release of Sonic: The Movie, just 46 days after its theatrical debut. Variety has indeed confirmed that Sonic: The Movie it will be released on demand in the United States starting from the next one 31 March. Those interested in the release of the 4K UHD, Blu-ray or DVD versions will have to wait until May 19th.



    Paramount Pictures, the major producer of the film has announced the release of a box set with numerous special contents:

    • Commentary by director Jeff Fowler and Sonic voice actor Ben Schwartz
    • Around the World in 80 Seconds - Watch Sonic's New Adventure, a brand new animated short
    • Deleted Scenes - Director Jeff Fowler shows the deleted scenes from the film
    • Bloopers commented by Jim Carrey and the rest of the cast
    • The "Speed ​​Me Up" music video
    • For the Love of Sonic - Jim Carrey and cast discuss what Sonic the Hedgehog means to them

    At the moment there is no release date yet, but it shouldn't be very far from the US one. Sonic had a unexpected success on American soil, winning the title of film inspired by a video game with the highest grossing ever, snatching it from Detective Pikachu. We also remember that the actor Neal McDonough, Major Bennington's interpreter, has hinted that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could take part in the highly anticipated sequel, although it has not yet been confirmed.
