Silent Hill: we see all the rumors that have emerged on the new possible chapter

Although several years have passed since the cancellation of the new chapter dedicated to the famous saga of Silent Hill, fans all over the world are clamoring for, given the multitude of rumors and rumors that have emerged in the last period, that Konami can retrace his steps. For this reason, we have decided to collect some of the main news that have rekindled the hope of fans to see the return, perhaps with the next generation of videogames, of one of the pillars of the horror genre.

Will we see the "demise" of Pyramin Head?

Already in the "distant" 2016, after the abrupt separation of Hideo Kojima da Konami, Masahiro Ito, a Japanese video game artist known for his work with the Team Silent, has returned to the subject several times, stating not only that he is not interested in making a possible remake of the series, but that if he is given the opportunity again to work on a "new" Silent Hill, would not abandon his plans to kill once and for all Pyramid head.

If I should make a new Silent Hill, I would not use Pyramid Head or kill him in its opening. https://t.co/yT8lL7gP26

Of course, these are simple statements from an artist who has always worked and believed in the project, but it is only in 2019 that gamers can really believe in something "concrete", given that in August 2019 Konami not only has renewed the "Silent Hill" brand, but he also stated, a few months later, that AAA titles will once again be relevant to the company's future. Furthermore, to further fuel the wishes of the fans, the good old Masahiro Ito thought again, who declared in January 2020 on his Twitter account:

I am working on a title as a main member. I hope the title is not deleted. I can't tell you anything about that yet.

Reboot of the saga or an episodic videogame?

Always in the January 2020, several rumors have emerged that Konami plans to develop two projects related to the Silent Hill saga: a gradual reboot of the series and an episodic title, along the lines of the works created by Telltale. Specifically, the two projects should probably involve a remake of the first chapter and a adventure game similar to Supermassive Games' “Until Dawn”, with a strong narrative component. These rumors were subsequently confirmed by the same Aesthetic Gamer, leaker believed to be reliable for having disseminated various information in the past, later revealed to be correct, regarding the Resident Evil saga, who allegedly stated that Sony isn't just mediating between Kojima and Konami, but that it is also interested in financing the next Silent Hill. Furthermore, according to the reports of Aesthetic Gamer, the project is still in an "embryonic" phase.

franchise, the other an episodic TellTale / Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot. I don't know anything more than that though, but I sure do hope Konami's given it the appropriate budget and found the right developer to make those games succeed.

After a brief period of "deafening" silence, the name of Silent Hill is back in March 2020, in the hearts of fans of the genre, with a completely unexpected rumor: Sony could acquire the rights related not only to Konami's iconic survival horror, but also of the franchises of Castlevania e Metal Gear. The denial by the well-known Japanese company came almost immediately, without ever clarifying specifically which rumors were actually false. We report below what Konami communicated:

We are aware of all the rumors and reports, but we can confirm that they are not true. I know that's not the answer fans would like to hear. This doesn't mean we're ditching the franchise entirely, just we're not going to do things the way it's reported.

Reveal in conjunction with PlayStation 5?

Although Konami has repeatedly denied the various rumors that saw the return of Silent Hill with a new chapter in the saga, the rumors certainly have not stopped appearing. The famous cartoonist Suehiro Maruo, during one of his visits last year April at Konami's Tokyo-based studios, he shared with his Instagram users an image depicting the writing of “Silent Hill”, which insinuated doubt in the hearts of many. That Suehiro Maruo could be involved in some way in the new Silent Hill project?

Also, again in April, the well-known insider Dusk Golem stated on ResetEra not only that Sony Japan Studios e Team Siren they would already be working on a new chapter or possible reboot of the series exclusive to PlayStation 5, But that the announcement of the title could coincide with the reveal of the new Sony console in May. Although these are unconfirmed rumors, it is interesting to note how several users have responded to this indiscretion with the pun "MAYbe“, As if to confirm the veracity of this supposition, the latter later proved by the same moderators of ResetEra. Finally, we remind you to take such news with the appropriate precautions without taking it for granted, since it is simple rumors and not official information disseminated by Konami or Sony. What do you think, would you like the return of the saga of Silent Hill, maybe on next generation consoles?
