Silent Hill Downpour - Solving all puzzles and riddles [360-PS3]

 

Developers of Silent Hill Downpour they got busy and brought a puzzle-packed game to our consoles to solve. Nothing overly difficult, but I think this guide to solving all the puzzles and brain teasers in the game could be useful to many readers.

In the guide we will see the puzzles present in the various sections of the game and the relative solution. For all the puzzles related to the secondary quests of the game, refer to the Silent Hill Downpour secondary mission guide.

Dove: Devils Pitstop

How to open the safe in the kitchen
Reward: loaded Colt pistol
The way it is solved changes according to the puzzle difficulty you have chosen, but the starting code will always be 42416 and the final one to open the safe always 26381. Here's how to do it:

Difficulty puzzles Easy:
Turn wheel 2 left one position
Turn wheel 4 to the left two positions
Turn wheel 2 to the left three positions
Turn wheel 1 to the right two positions
Turn wheel 3 to the right one position
Turn wheel 5 to the left three positions

Difficulty puzzles Normal:
Turn wheel 2 to the right one position
Turn wheel 3 to the left two positions
Turn wheel 4 to the left two positions
Turn wheel 2 to the right three positions
Turn wheel 1 to the right two positions

Reward: getting the ticket needed to advance in history
You will have to place the 3 colored balls in the corresponding holes at the top of the machine. Follow the video

Dove: Devil's Pit

Puzzle of water valves
Reward: a medical kit and ammo, unlock the elevator to move forward in the story
For this puzzle the solution seems to be the same for all three difficulty levels. The difference is that on Normal and Hard you will have to move a wooden crate under the central door which otherwise will lock when you start turning the valves (do as in the video shown below). Proceed as follows:

- The left valve, turn it 3 times to the left
- Turn the central flywheel 2 times to the left
- The right flywheel, turn it 1 time to the left

Now that you have channeled the water, go and get the med kit and gun ammo in the nearby cave (as shown in the video), then return to the valves and turn the right valve 1 more time to drop the water on the wheel. Now the elevator will be activated. Here is the video that shows everything

Train station puzzle
Reward: reactivating the train to move forward in history
In this puzzle the buttons to press change according to the puzzle difficulty level you have chosen.

Difficulty puzzles Easy:

Code to enter the warehouse
Prize: various items, including a painting that you will need if you want to complete the "Art Collector" side mission (for more details, refer to the secondary mission guide).
The combination to open the warehouse gate is always 827

Dove: Centennial Building

Puzzle of the envelopes in the office
Reward: Opens the door to the second floor offices
Room 105, you must have the room 104 ID card to enter. You have to arrange the 6 envelopes on the table to reveal a number. Depending on the difficulty of the puzzles you have chosen, the number of envelopes to put in place changes. The hidden combination however is always the same, that is 851136. Follow the video

Enigma door of the Crypt
Reward: open the armored door
In order to unlock the vault door, you need to collect the projector slides from the desk in room 200. Then you need to play on the projector in the video storage room on the 2nd floor to reveal the safe combination.
In any case the combination is always the same at any difficulty level, that is IX-VI-I. Follow the video for further help

Where: St. Mary's Monastery

Enigma Lights Theater
The puzzle difficulty you have chosen affects the help you will have in solving this puzzle. The actions to be taken, however, will always be the same. Proceed as follows:

1. Flip the switch near the staircase to turn off the house lights
2. Crank the gramophones to play the opening music
3. Activate the spotlights and aim the beam at the center of the scene
4. Activate the winch to the left of the spotlight to drop the first set in its place
5. Activate the winch to the right of the spotlight to drop the second set in its place
6. Spin the wooden cylinder to produce a rain effect
7. Hit the hanging metal sheet to produce a thunder effect

X-ray riddle of the hospice
To determine which of the screamers contains the objects you are looking for, use the X-ray machine to scan each of the bodies. Lay them on the stretcher in place, then activate the control panel to start scanning. If the monitor does not show any abnormalities, move on to the next body. When you spot a foreign object in the monitor, move on to examine the body. Follow the on-screen instructions to inspect the chest cavity. The closer you are to objects, the more the screamer will shake. Once you find the object, grab it to trigger a video sequence. After doing everything correctly, you will receive a key and a fragment of poetry. Follow the video
