Shinji Mikami could return to directing a title again

Shinji Mikami could return to directing a title again

Shinji Mikami is certainly one of the best known names in the gaming industry in the world for many years now. In this almost concluded 2020, the director scores his first 30 years in the gaming industry, which began in 1990 by crossing the doors of Capcom from which it almost never came out. Unmistakable style, his favorite genre, needless to say, is that of horror, which gave him the nomination of "The godfather of horror games" with the first chapter of Resident Evil, beloved and long-lived franchise that still continues to thrill millions and millions of fans.

2020 also marks the first 10 years of its development study Tango Gameworks, a software house created to give space to young talents and to thrive primarily in the genre that made it famous. Director of the first chapter of The Evil Within, Shinji Mikami remembers the good times in which he had hilarious fun making a project completely his own like that of Resident Evil 4 and, during a long chat with the Variety portal, which we bring you back to the following link, Shinki Mikami talked about what his career has been up to now, made up of both "highs" but also different "lows", and that he would be really happy to be able to return to directing a game again from start to finish .

The studio is perhaps best known for its 2014 survival horror title “The Evil Within,” Mikami's most recent title. It wasn't a deliberate return to horror, says Mikami, but he remembered the fun he had in making “Resident Evil 4” and wanted to continue on that. At the time, he said it would be the last game he would ever direct. Now, however, it just doesn't feel that way. “The Evil Within” started out as a project called “Noah,” although the resulting game has evolved into something entirely different. But if Mikami had had a chance to realize the original “Noah” concept, he says, maybe he would have. My thinking is that if I had the chance to make a game from start to finish it would turn out just as I imagine it, then surely, that would be my last big project as a director.

In a new interview with Variety, Shinji Mikami states that he would return as a director if he gets to make a game that is completely envisioned by him
