Bad news coming for fans of LittleBigPlanet. According to what has emerged in the last few hours, Sackboy: A Big Adventure it will no longer be launched on November 12th with all the features that have been leaked in recent months. Less than a week after its debut, together with PlayStation 5, it was announced that the online multiplayer component of the game has been officially postponed. We report in detail the words of Ned Waterhouse, Design Director of Sumo Digital:
We made the difficult decision to delay full online multiplayer functionality within Sackboy: A Great Adventure. The team has worked hard to ensure that online is the best possible experience for players and we just need a little more time to get it right so you can enjoy it to the fullest with your friends and family.
The online multiplayer functionality will instead arrive via a patch by the end of 2020. (PSN account and internet connection required). This patch will also include:
- Cross-generation multiplayer where PS4 and PS5 users can play together
- Game save transfers from PS4 to PS5
On launch day, you can still enjoy Sackboy with your family in an offline co-op party game on the couch. Groups of 2-4 players can play throughout the game, including the must-see co-op-only levels. We understand this will be disappointing for those of you hoping to take advantage of the online multiplayer feature at launch, and we appreciate your patience.
Despite the new platform game Sumo Digital does not have the launch of the highly anticipated online multiplayer feature, LittleBigPlanet fans will not have to wait long, as the British software house reiterated that the feature will be released by the end of 2020. While waiting to be able to savor the next-gen Sony branded, we remind you that Sackboy: A Big Adventure will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 starting next November 12 2020.
