Rockstar Games: A woman stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment from the company

A woman of Oakville was charged with a number of crimes, including a major theft of computer equipment from the Toronto branch of the development team of Grand Theft Auto, Namely Rockstar Games. These thefts reportedly took place between 24th December and 23st January, leading the woman to face 18 charges in total for this series of crimes. According to official reports, apart from the thefts that took place at Rockstar, the woman is also suspected of being responsible for a series of thefts of cars and objects inside them. Paradoxical as it is that a company like Rockstar Games has been the victim of a similar crime, being known for making games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption based on outlaw protagonists, the whole thing is somewhat shocking.

Reports of the incident suggest that the woman escaped with equipment and accessories worth more than that dollars 66.000 from the Rockstar Games offices. The exact contents of these packages are currently unknown and reports do not indicate what happened to the computer equipment that was stolen at the time of this writing. Among the 18 charges she is accused of, these include the fraudulent use of a credit card, the trafficking of property obtained through illegal acts and the theft of over dollars 5000. As for Rockstar Games, the company has yet to release any public statements on the incident and will likely not release any statements on the matter in the coming weeks either.

The amount the woman allegedly stole from the team is beyond imagination, as no accomplice or other party involved in such thefts is mentioned. Hopefully, the stolen property can be returned to Rockstar Games, or at the very least the company manages to get reimbursed through insurance. .
