Riot Games, the game developer and publisher known for league of legends, announced in the past few hours that it has completed the acquisition of Hypixel Studios. Founded in 2018, the studio is currently developing Hytale, a community-based block game that combines the purpose of a creative sandbox with the depth of an RPG. From the first issues, Hypixel Studios' debut title has met with huge audience success, amassing over 2,5 million registrations for the beta and millions of views for its launch trailer on YouTube. Hytale is expected to debut "only" in 2021, according to the statements of the development team dating back to last November. Thus, the acquisition represents only the expansion of a long-standing relationship with the team of Hypixel Studios, who will now have the opportunity to “exploit” the experience of Riot Games in developing and publishing acclaimed and player-centric games. Hypixel Studios will maintain its current structure while setting up a permanent office in Derry ~ Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The new office will serve as the basis for back-office and quality assurance functions. Additionally, the newly acquired development team is assuming 20 new positions in these areas, with further growth expected as Hytale's development progresses, according to the US company's official release.
