Resident Evil: The reboot of the first film will arrive in September

Simply called resident evil, the film produced by Costanitin Films e Sony Pictures will be available to the public on 3 September 2021. The feature film will be a new starting point for cinematic products dedicated to the zombie series created by Capcom and, according to Sony, it will be much more faithful to the original story and the mood that we find in the first three chapters of the franchise. In the film they will be protagonists chris e Claire Redfield, interpreted respectively by Robbie amell e Kaya Scodelaro. The plot will have a focus on the past of the two characters and will be set in Racoon city in 1998 during the outbreak of the pandemic, caused by the Umbrella virus, which devastated the entire city.

After i six movies products in the past with the protagonist Milla Jovovich, Capcom has decided to start from scratch, trying to bring fans a product that is closer to the events narrated in the first videogames. This reboot coming in September it could be the first of a series of new films with a darker and less scenic and apocalyptic mold, key characteristics of the previous films. Parallel to Sony's project, too Netflix is working on two products dedicated to Resident Evil: two TV sets live action with original stories that will cover different time lines.

With the arrival on May 3 of Resident Evil: Village and several film productions in the pipeline, the franchise created in the nineties by Capcom is back in the limelight as never before, thanks also to a change of direction in the main video game series, which started with Resident Evil 7. In fact, the developers have opted for a first-person camera and a less action and more horror approach to the game world, departing from the latest chapters that have not been so appreciated by critics and users, so we just have to wait and find out how faithful these new films will be arriving in the coming months and if they will live up to a series of video games that literally made the history of the medium.
