Don't lie. It is impossible that you have never come across a survival horror of any kind in your life, much less it is impossible in most cases not to be restless during the gameplay ... but still pushed to continue in the adventure by a mixture of curiosity and irrepressible masochism. Is it just such an instinct - or maybe much more? - for prompting Dr. Reed to be trapped in Remothered: Tormented Fathers, a title born from the brilliant mind of Chris Darril and developed by Stormind Games e Darril Arts which will arrive from the end of January in episodic format. With a slow but well-kept gestation period, the release date of the title is finally approaching, which in the meantime has arrived on Steam with its Early Access version. In these days we have had the opportunity to try this version, realizing first-hand the actual quality of the project.

Remothered: Tormented Fathers PreviewWithout too many preambles, as already mentioned, our daring woman will move the events, who after a couple of slow but very clear videos - of which we will not tell you the extent - will decide to sneak into the sinister mansion of an elderly man with a past ... let's say unclear. But when he realizes that the situation is not the most optimistic, it will already be too late. Thus begins a mixture of a catch and a hide-and-seek between us and the deviant Mr. Felton to which our company is just not welcome. The doctor Reed he will be able to use many of the objects scattered around the moldy dwelling as weapons, but not to attack directly: we can use ropes to temporarily block doors, use blunt objects to divert his attention or slow him down, and sharper objects such as scissors or knives to escape from its clutches if it manages to catch us. It will be up to us to succeed take advantage of hiding places - like wardrobes or sofas - that the house offers, and try to make as little noise as possible so as not to be noticed. If by unfortunate fate the affable Mr. Felton should find us, he will not hesitate to hit us with his sickle and to stain his elegant gardener's apron with blood (the ONLY garment he wore); obviously it will be possible to lose our tracks, but it will not be exactly easy, especially if we calculate some dead ends of the house, before they are unlocked by us on the opposite side.

Remothered: Tormented Fathers PreviewOn some occasions we will be forced to win minigames to save us, just like when old grandpa grabs us, or when we need to stay calm in case he lingers in front of our current hiding place. As all this happens on the various floors of the house, we will have to solve riddles by collecting key objects in one room, then using them in another - sometimes at sidereal distance, forcing us to backtracking really nerve-wracking from floor to floor - and of course our smiling friend. it won't look good in a corner. As expected it will be very important save our progress and heal ourselves whenever possible, and we can do this in an unconventional way: by looking in the mirror. Although not for its entire duration, the part of this first episode that we can play in early access is precisely this heartbreaking struggle for survival, so many of the game mechanics the studio has in store for us will remain a secret for a while longer..

Remothered: Tormented Fathers PreviewAfter our first careful examination, we can say that Remothered: Tormented Fathers is definitely a title with great potential, but which in a couple of points unfortunately lacks gross errors. First of all, Mr. Felton who as soon as he pulls us out by force from our hiding place will remain for a good second looking at us without lifting a finger, giving us all the time to start running again: sure, it makes the game less punitive, but everything except credible. Credibility that is even less when we hide behind a table, half an arm lower than the crouching doctor, and Mr. Felton won't be able to see us. Another point to be filed, in addition to some technical aspects in general, is the precision of the movements of our curious Doctor, since there will not be few occasions in which she will be nailed in front of an edge or an object. Summing up, however, we are faced with a game that draws a deep line of demarcation from what are the tricolor titles that we have been used to playing in recent years, especially for a pleasant directorial treatment, which perhaps consumes information a little too quickly. With the necessary changes and the right amount of suspense, Remothered: Tormented Fathers has all the credentials to cheer - and frighten - audiences around the world.
