Red Dead Redemption 2: what we know about the new Rockstar Games title

Rockstar Games yesterday showed us the third trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, highly anticipated title that will catapult us back into an era characterized by bandits and sheriffs, gunpowder and sand: the wild west. The trailer shows us many interesting scenes, but no gameplay, which are starting to give an imprint to what will probably be one of the best games of this year. For you, after watching the trailer countless times, we have extrapolated some information.

John Marston is back

Or rather, that's where it started from. We are in fact in 1899, a period that, in John's story, dates back to his membership in the Van Der Linde gang. In the first chapter that period is mainly told by the relationship between him, Dutch, Bill and Javier, and by the betrayal he will suffer by being left on the ground dying. These origins will certainly be playable in this new episode, and we even think that during the story we will be able to experience everything, from the formation of the gang until 1906, the year in which John will be betrayed, to the move to Beecher's Hope, the place where a new life will start again. We already know his fate but, at least, we will find out how he got those iconic scars on his face.

Not just John

From the videos we can see how Van Der Linde, Williamson and Escuella will be part of the gang: having already seen them in Red Dead Redemption, we could venture that this time they will also be playable. After seeing 7 characters, the mind immediately went to John Sturges and his Magnificent Seven. The flow of thoughts does not stop, it goes on to the bitter end and slowly as time passes, here, almost in silence, comes the possible intuition that leaves you completely blown away: seven protagonistsseven antiheroes that could give life to something never seen before and truly ambitious, as Rockstar Games has already walked the path of multiple characters with GTA V, proving its class and quality to the whole world.

A new point of view

However, what is denoted is that, this time, the protagonist will be Arthur Morgan, a man of strong ideals, who will find problems difficult to deal with within the gang, made up of hotheads.

The same world

The game will most likely take us to the same lands already trodden in Red Dead Redemption: already well-known clubs, signs and logos famous at the time and, above all, a choice of country consistent with this and the previous game are back. It will also be interesting to visit those same locations a few years earlier, perhaps finding references to the previous chapter.

Evolved gameplay

We don't know anything about the gameplay, unfortunately. What is certain, however, is that some scenes seem to have been extrapolated from gameplay: from the tackle to the fight, all these mechanics have been well worked out on Grand Theft Auto V, still a cross-gen title, and we are sure that in Red Dead Redemption 2 they will be filed, improved and will bring something amazing to the screen.

The arrival of multiplayer?

With the multitude of characters shown (including probably the much-loved Uncle), it is not impossible for a multiplayer mode to arrive, naturally divided into cooperative and competitive. In the first case, it would be fun to carry out missions, a bit like what happened in Red Dead Redemption, perhaps limited in time and capable of giving collectibles and unique upgrades. In the second case, however, it is not impossible that everything turns into Red Dead Redemption Online, a mode that would follow GTA Online, inserting both cooperative and competitive, taking everything to a new level, with a character created from scratch, the ability to receive tons of free DLCs and have fun in such a large world.

And what do you expect from Red Dead Redemption 2? What would you like to see in the new Rockstar Games title? These are our speculations, obviously based on what was disclosed directly by the software house. Official information on the game is very limited, for this reason we hope that, perhaps riding the wave of E3, the development house will be able to release some new details, even if as we all know it will not be present at the Los Angeles fair.
