Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart: Uploads will be instant

In a recent interview with The Washington Postgame director di Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Mike Daly talked about the next title of Insomniac Games which will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5. As you know, the core of the gameplay will be linked to space-dimensional jumps and this will be optimized thanks to the great potential of the new SSD owners Sony, technology that will allow a great speed of loading of maps and game worlds. This potential was shown in the launch trailer, where we were able to witness various changes of settings within a few moments without any loading or slowing down.

During this interview this was confirmed, specifying that loading a new map during dimensional-leaps will take just one second. In addition, the game director said that the various worlds that will be glimpsed during the journeys between dimensions will be "enriched":

One of the cool things is that all that is shown is live gameplay where we control the character. All those worlds that we will be called to cross during the various sections of the game are real worlds, completely enriched.

It has not currently been specified whether Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will narratively follow in the footsteps of Nexus (from which, however, he inherits the concept of "Rift", or dimensional splits) or if it will be a sequel to the 2016 remake. As for the aforementioned space-dimensional fractures, it is self-evident from the first trailer shown that it will be a driving force not only of the gameplay but also of the narrative. While the two protagonists travel between one dimension and another, during a battle they find themselves separated into two different realities. In the one where Clank ends up, it seems that Nefarious managed to triumph, creating a real dictatorship. Here we will meet a mysterious Lombax who, according to the news released by Insomniac itself, will be a playable character.

We also remind you that the game will be released later this year, released during the launch window of the PlayStation 5 as an exclusive of the new Sony home console.
