Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailer

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart it was certainly a more than welcome surprise during the event Sony, proving to be the forerunner of the new generation for Japanese society. The exclusivity PlayStation 5 Insomniac Games is preparing to return, and from the trailer it seems to be in perfect shape. Finally, years after the publication of Nexus, we have a new chapter that continues the story of one of the most disjointed couples in the history of video games. Although we talked extensively about the title in our dedicated preview, today we want to shift the focus to hidden details, small details that not everyone will have noticed.

Cronk's hologram

Towards the end of the trailer it is clear how Clank ended up in a world controlled by Dr. Nefarious, famous villain of the saga, who in all probability will return with his plans to subjugate the universe. The thing that stands out most on screen is the giant hologram of the famous villain, but few will have noticed a smaller figure on the left. If you enlarge the image you will recognize the outline of Cronk, famous character who appeared in Ratchet and Clank: Weapons of Destruction. Was this small detail inserted for a bigger reason or simply self-righteousness?

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerLombax sought after

Shortly before Clank's appearance in the world of Nefarious, the shot shows some flyers. One of these is the classic wanted sheet, and it seems to portray the very lombax that will make an appearance at the end of the trailer. With a good chance it will be central to the plot, given that the same Insomniac Games confirmed that it can be controlled during the adventure. Throughout the canonical series we have always checked either Ratchet or Clank, this new introduction seems like a real breath of fresh air to us.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerThe mechanical arm

The lombax of which we do not know the name, in addition to presenting itself with a model of omnkey all new (which actually looks more like a hammer), it shows a bright yellow mechanical arm. We obviously don't know how he lost his natural limb, or more simply it was replaced with a thoughtful choice, but we believe that his robotic form will guarantee him unique gameplay elements. as a possible grab on enemies, mechanics very similar to the one with which Ratchet moves between the various portals.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerThe sprinkler weapon makes the flowers grow

Small detail, but which shows how the development house is taking care of the work in detail. During the firefight sequence with enemies, Ratchet sports some weapons from his brand new inventory. One of these seems to be a sprinkler: once launched it hits and paralyzes enemies automatically. The water that comes out of it, once in contact with the ground, makes colorful flowers grow, creating a real garden. We can't wait to see what other effects all of the game's insane weapons will have, a hallmark of the series since its first appearance on PS2.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerSecret areas

During the stage where the protagonists ride some kind of dragon, a small area with boxes can be seen at the bottom left. The presence of the latter will surely mean that that specific world, perhaps at a more advanced point of the game, can be explored. Just during the escape it is possible to see the size of the areas, which suggests that the developers have worked to give the title also a certain freedom of exploration.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerPirate world

Autocitazionismo or return to the past? We still don't know, but the only sure thing is that the world that was teeming with pirate-robots is that of Merdegraw, which we already enjoyed in In Search of the Treasure, little adventure that preceded A Spasso nel Tempo. The great mountain in the shape of a skull is quite explicit in this sense, it is therefore not excluded that in Rift Apart we will return to some planets already visited in the Polaris Galaxy.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerThe tail of a giant monster

During the gameplay trailer, shortly after entering an area teeming with civilians, on the left behind a dimensional gap you can see the tail of a giant monster. The camera will never move to the left, preventing us from seeing the creature. We do not know if we will be able to face it or if its purpose is purely aesthetic, but the certainty is that the gates can change the structure of the environment at any moment, introducing fauna and flora in unthinkable places.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerA possible boss is in sight

So we come to the end of the gameplay, which gives us a small look at what could be one of the game's bosses. In the background beyond the arch you can see a moving image, a sort of giant robot fully armed. The cutscene stops before engaging in the fight, leaving us with a great unknown. However, the battles against these mammoth creatures in Ratchet and Clank have always been particularly inspired, so we can't wait to dive into this section.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, the details you missed in the trailerThese were all the details we noticed in the announcement trailer dedicated to the new Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Although the work does not yet have an official release date, we expect it to arrive shortly after the launch of the PlayStation 5.
