Rainbow Six Quarantine, title developed by Ubisoft and announced during theE3 2019, it may change its name. The reason is obvious: almost a year ago, our forced coexistence with the pandemic began. Since then, over two million people around the world have lost their lives to the Covid-19 and, as a result, the developers believe that the title of their creation could offend someone's sensibility. Or at least, this is what emerged during a Q&A session with investors, which was held on the sidelines of the event during which the company announced the economic results of the last quarter of 2020. To the CEO of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot the thorny question about the name of the title was asked and he just replied that his company is considering calling the game differently. However, no official decision has been made.
In the meantime, it is necessary to retrace the history of Rainbow Six Quarantine. The title, as mentioned, was announced during the 2019 edition of the Californian kermesse and should have seen the light in theautumn of the 2020. This did not happen and today we are talking about March 2021 as a possible release date. Specifically, according to a leak (later denied, we talked about it here) jumped out in recent weeks, the exact date is indicated as March 21, 2021. For its part, Ubisoft has not expressed itself in this regard and, therefore, a little more than a month after the hypothetical launch, still nothing is known. We therefore await official news.
What we know for sure is that it will be, as for the other chapters of the saga, of one tactical shooter in cooperative mode. As for the plot, we know that the Rainbow operators they will have to contend with a new species of mutated alien parasite that infects humans and their surroundings. A theme that could, therefore, harm the sensitivity of many. This is probably why Ubisoft is pondering its decisions on the matter as best we can. We await the release, in any case, to judge the work and to see if the title has actually been changed or not.
