PS5: the Digital Edition could cost 50 euros less than the standard

Digital Foundry recently did an interesting analysis of the two versions of PS5, examining the various features and hypothesizing what the price difference could be between the editions. According to the report, the Digital Edition, that is, the version of the console without Blu-ray player and all digital, could cost about 50 euro less than the standard. To arrive at this figure, the portal has examined not only the lack of the UHD Blu-Ray player, which would cost Sony around 20 dollars, but also on other factors.

These are related to advantages that a digital-only platform guarantees the company, since in this case the various earnings are divided only between Sony itself and the publisher. Furthermore, with the Digital Edition, the second-hand market is completely eliminated, another important aspect that increases revenues. These advantages could therefore lead the company to further lower the price of the digital edition, even if obviously nothing is officially confirmed. At the moment, in fact, the standard cost of PS5 is still shrouded in mystery, despite some rumors pointing to € 499,99. All that remains is to wait for further news to find out more.

Next-gen consoles are going to be pricey - but to what extent can the PS5 Digital Edition reduce the cost? Some thoughts: https://t.co/u0M9lVJHe5
