Project xCloud: Microsoft service helped development during Covid

Game development was largely affected by the pandemic COVID-19 this year, leading to many titles being postponed. However, a report of Bloomberg revealed that some software houses have taken advantage of the streaming service Microsoft's Project xCloud to continue developing. Microsoft created the streaming service of xCloud to allow players to stream games for PC e Xbox on mobile devices.

According to the Bloomberg report, Microsoft has made some features of the streaming service available to allow developers to work remotely safely from home during the pandemic. The streaming service changed that, as developers were able to access office computers and continue development even during this difficult time. When the pandemic started, Microsoft had to make some changes quickly, and the company's restart was made possible by employees working remotely and restoring manufacturers' supply chains. However, many workers did not have access to the computers needed for development. So the company and its partners then tried using cloud computing tools to remotely access servers, which was fine but not optimal. So, an Xbox team proposed using the xCloud service, and things started to change for the better.

The Project xCloud service enabled Microsoft teams to emulate the office environment by allowing employees to link computers together for greater collaboration. Teams could compare notes, comment with each other, make changes when needed, and even organize video conferences. While not perfect, the xCloud app has allowed Microsoft's teams and game studios to also resume development of triple-A titles like the new one. Halo Infinite and the next game Force Motorsports.
