Project xCloud: Here's what we know about Microsoft's new streaming service

This week Microsoft products started testing Project xCloud, a new streaming platform dedicated to video games. According to the news reported on The Verge, the colossus of Redmond has recently released a "beta" version of the service, available to all Microsoft employees, which would allow Xbox games to be streamed to PC. The application in question, called "Xbox Game Streaming“, Will be available in the future also on Windows Store, and only requires an Xbox One Bluetooth controller, a Microsoft account, and a good Internet connection.

I respect the versions for mobile devices (Android ed iOS), the app dedicated to PC users will also support streaming of titles directly from Xbox One, locally or remotely, instead of using Microsoft's xCloud servers. According to what was reported by the well-known technological information site, the employees of the Redmond company would be testing in this "trial" period different titles in the catalog, "limited" to a maximum resolution of 720p.

Finally, Microsoft products has recently communicated not only that it has updated the servers of Project xCloud, including ben eight Xbox One S consoles in a single "slot", but want to transfer them to the processor of Xbox Series X (much more powerful, and capable of running up to four game sessions simultaneously on a single chip). The new update should also include a new embedded video encoder, up to six times faster than the current external encoder that Microsoft uses on existing xCloud servers.
