After last year's e3, hardly a true fanatic of mom Sony (or not) does not know Joel and Ellie, precisely the protagonists of The Last Of Us, a new gem that Naughty Dog are making for us faithful owners of Ps3. On Friday 31st, exclusively for the owners of God of War: Ascension, a short demo was released that gives a glimpse of the immense qualities of the title.

The story begins in a quarantine zone twenty years after the spread of the fungus that caused part of the world's population to transform into zombie-like monsters. Ellie was born in that very city. She is a smart girl, who likes things from the "old world", like music and books. Joel sells drugs and weapons through the local black market. He's a former hunter and reportedly killed quite a few innocent people in the past. He is recruited by a dying friend to take Ellie out of the quarantine zone, for reasons unknown. But things go wrong, the military gets involved and Joel runs away with Ellie to keep his promise to his dying friend. This in a nutshell is the plot of the Naughty Dog game, now leaked from various articles and trailers on the network. It is decidedly captivating, especially for a very deep personality of the two protagonists and the other secondary characters. Let's now pass to the technical sector.

The graphic impact is simply devastating. The beginning of the demo throws us at the entrance of a disastrous city under a devastating storm, needless to say that you are left with your mouth open: vast and meticulously detailed environments, wonderful character expressions and animations, rain and lightning made like never before. . The game remains "off the scale" from this point of view, as announced and visible through the numerous previous trailers. To underline the wonderful play of light / shadow caused by Joel's torch in a particularly dark section: wonderful! The sound comes with a well-made country tune and a really excellent dubbing, but the final judgment is postponed to the release of the title.

Gameplay: finally a true survival! The first thing I personally noticed was the only 4 rounds in the magazine, I had gotten too used to this generation too well. Searching here and there I reached a maximum of 17 shots, very few when compared to the number of enemies in the demo. Finally a game where it will be essential to make the most of everything we own. We will be able to use bricks or bottles to distract enemies, assassinate them from behind silently screeching through the environments or, at our peril, fire a shot while alerting all the others. Inventory management is beautiful: collecting resources around here and there will be essential to improve your arsenal and create items such as medkits, Molotovs and much more. Everything will be in real time, to increase identification even more.

The Last Of Us, from this short demo, promises to be the masterpiece that everyone hoped for, a game that is finally different, original, varied and hopefully perfect or almost! We just have to wait for Friday 14 June for the release in stores!
