Predator: Life and Death - Review of the comic published by Saldapress

After the announcement of the upcoming film dedicated to the universe of Alien and Predator, it is ready to land published by saldapress the awaited sequel to the volume Fire and Stone, or Predator: Life and Death weblog Dark Horse Comics. This new volume will be available in all bookstores and comics shops in Italy starting from mid-September.

Written by Dan Abnett (Judge Dredd; War Machine), drawn by Brian Albert Thies (Star Wars: Legacy; Winter Soldier; The Amazing Spider-Man), The story comes to life exactly one year after the events of Fire and Stone and 43 years after the events of the Aliens movie. The USCM Hasdrubal military spacecraft lands on planetoid LV-797 (renamed Tartarus), one of the moons that orbit the planet Calpamos. The mission of the colonial marines on board, once disembarked, will be to investigate a possible illicit activity of a rival Weyland-Yutani company, Seegson, which is allegedly engaging in illicit activities on the planet, owned by the Company. What the military are dealing with, however, is very different from a simple group of illegal miners: they will come across a giant alien spaceship in the shape of a horseshoe and a group of yautja who guard it and who are ready for everyone to defend it.

Predator: Life and Death it's a great starting point for developing richer and more complex stories later on. The story has the advantage of flowing in a pleasant way and without ever getting lost, thanks to a story full of action that gives the reader exactly what he expects, namely science fiction clashes between ferocious Predators and super-trained Marines. The whole is beautifully supported by the designs of Brian Albert Thies who with his dirty and biting style manages to make the most of the dark and ruthless soul of the Alien Universe.
