Just over a month is missing from the arrival of the next-gen videogame, which will bring the highly anticipated new consoles into our homes: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X e Xbox series s. We now know most of the secrets regarding the two platforms in question, but today we were able to admire further new details regarding the next flagship of Sony, which through its models with reader UHD Blu-Ray e All-Digital will color the ninth generation of videogames.

Let's talk about a real video console teardown, which we enclose on the cover of the article, where all the internal details and some features still unknown to the public are shown. Between confirmations of some doubts posed by the community, and really unexpected features, the new gem of the company has been laid bare, and it really has no more secrets regarding the hardware. Let's see together what we have discovered, deepening in the meantime the technological innovations that the Japanese company has included in his new powerful machine.

The news in plain sight of the PlayStation 5

PlayStation 5 is presented with considerable dimensions, as it is also larger than PlayStation 4. Let's talk about 390 cm high, 260 cm wide, and well 149 cm deep. Nothing is given to chance, and its tonnage is necessary to be able to contain all the components with the right spaces, which together have the objective of giving life to a machine. as powerful as it is silent, as we will discover in the next lines.

On the front there are a USB C port and a USB A port, the most classic to be clear, as well as the disc compartment if you choose the version with the player. On the back we find instead well 2 USB 3.0, an Ethernet port, an HDMI and the input for the power plugs. It does not end here however, as the entire surface of the back is meant for dissipation, and will take care of expelling the air and finalizing the "respiratory function" of the device. Clearly, there must first be an entrance, which we found instead to be located in the front of the device, thanks to some precise ones openings located near the two white side shells. PlayStation 5 is designed to be superficially disassembled by more or less all users, even if, as the video teardown recalls, it is good not to delve into its innermost meanders from home.

However, to put the machine in a horizontal position it is necessary remove the black circle which holds the device in the vertical position, through a convenient and large screw placed in the center of the same and accessible from below. Therefore, once the round piece has been disassembled, it is possible to access a part of it that has remained secret until now, which allows you to host the previously removed screw and take another one already placed in the practical compartment, useful for plugging the hole created under the console. Then by turning it, the slot in question is inaccessible, and it is therefore possible to handle the aforementioned rim without risking losing its contents. At this point, in fact, this must be attached to the side of the console marked with the classic Sony symbols: triangle, square, circle and cross, in order to raise the console in its horizontal position.

It does not end here, because Panels can also be removed with relative ease, lifting one of the corners and dragging them outwards. It therefore seems that this confirms the customization possibilities of the external body. Once this is done, it is possible to notice how behind one of the two there is a PCIe 4.0 input placed next to the main fan, which can be used in the future for insert an NVMe memory and therefore increase the total storage space of the system. There are also very useful holes in plain sight from where it will be possible to suck the dust, which will be automatically attracted inside them thanks to the internal ventilation system.

The secrets of the new hardware branded Sony

At this point, continuing to disassemble the hardware inevitably leads to the loss of the warranty, as the seal that protects the latter must be removed. Analyzing the internal components, the video showed us the main fan of the console, from the size of 120 × 45 cm, quite standard to be honest, this will however be measured on the basis of the revolutions that it will be able to complete every second, in order to savor its speed and dissipation potential. The Blu Ray UHD player is also shown in its entirety, which is coated in metal with layers of insulation, and will therefore not let disc reading be noisy as is the case with most current gaming platforms.

Another unexpected novelty is hidden on the motherboard, which confirms all the previously announced specifications regarding RAM, ROM, GPU and CPU, with the latter offering however a particular unexpected feature. Instead of thermal paste - which has now become the standard for the dissipation of processors - the Ryzen platform of PlayStation 5 adopts the metal liquid. On paper, this material will be able to dissipate the high temperatures of the new one more easily AMD Ryzen Zen 2, thanks to the greater possibilities of conducting, although at the same time it could turn out less lasting over time and therefore lead to increasing noise over the years.

In support we find a really huge heatsink, almost as long as the entire console, considering that it occupies an entire side of it. The solution adopted for the latter is a heat pipe Once again. Last, though not least, is the power supply system with a rated power of 350 W.
