PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

The trend that lately sees the development houses launch on the market ports, remasters and remake on the new generation consoles it will continue with good probability also on PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X - as well as on Nintendo Switch. In particular, however, with this article we want to offer you our list of titles that we would absolutely like to see as a remake on the next console signed by Sony. For some of these, unfortunately, the chances of a real makeover are relatively low, but hope is the last to die: especially since they continue to circulate on the web rumor e rumors that would still leave the candle of our enthusiasm alight.

Silent Hill

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

The craving for remakes that characterized this last period has rewarded Resident Evil 2 as one of the most successful titles in the gaming sector, highly appreciated by both the public and critics. For this reason it is therefore legitimate to ask why Konami has not chosen to follow the strategy of Capcom, which has also recently released the third chapter of the saga and presumably is preparing to work to launch the fourth in a short time.

Silent Hill is undoubtedly one of the sagas survival horror most iconic and adored by the public (especially by myself), and producing a remake of at least the first chapter (the one that is, for obvious reasons, aged in the worst way) would be a great relaunch for the brand, on what will be the new generation . Especially if i rumor that are spreading ultimately actually hide a grain of truth - and that is that Konami and Sony intend to relaunch the series with new exclusive to PS5.

Possibility of remake: not entirely unlikely, but only time will give us the answer.

Prince of Persia

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

Exotic, deserted lands, full of mysteries and secrets to be discovered: but be careful to avoid deadly traps showing off great skills of parkour, and annihilate enemies with cinematic combos and stunts. This is, reductively and trivially speaking, the spirit of Prince of Persia, one of the essential sagas for all older players, especially for those who have played it for the first time with a floppy disk. It is not known why Ubisoft has left such a brand dormant - perhaps because of the fiasco achieved with the 2008 reboot? - for all this time. Yet it's the fans and the creator himself, Jordan Mechner, to ask and launch the idea of a possible remake. An idea that, if it were put into practice and guaranteed an optimal result, would bring back into vogue one of the most iconic sagas of the 90s and not only.

There would be several rumors, even in this case, which would include a resumption of it just for PS5, exclusively for Sony and which should have been announced on the occasion of theE3 2020. Obviously we do not know how much truth there is in these rumors, and also given the cancellation of the fair due to emergency Coronavirus, we won't be able to get our hands on the truth anytime soon. However, as a fan of the brand, we would also like just a nice remake of the first chapter of the saga of Sands of Time. Then, if Ubisoft wants to embark on the mammoth remake of the very first original trilogy started in '89, so be it!

Possibility of remake: unlikely at the moment, but who knows.

The Legend of Dragoon

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

While Final Fantasy 7, just debuted with a successful remake, he enjoyed the whole glory possible and imaginable in the heyday of the very first PlayStation, RPG fans of those years knew very well that alongside the son of Square Enix another game rivaled to earn first place on the podium of the best titles in the genre. Yes, that's right, it's really about him, The Legend of Dragoon.

Why would The Legend of Dragoon deserve a remake? In fact, there would be no need to ask. After all, it is about a unique RPG, a four-disc odyssey that took the original PlayStation to the pinnacle of its performance. After perhaps the first initial uncertainties, already from the second disc the title was able to offer players splendid 2D visuals, incredible CGI movie sequences, and hours and hours of dialogue. The Legend of Dragoon was one technical marvel of the time and it desperately needs to be told, again, even on the latest generation consoles. And above all, it has the sacrosanct right to enjoy location e dubbing Spanish revisited and corrected, which can finally do it justice. It was no coincidence that we had entered it in the list of the worst voiceovers ever in the gaming world, remember?

Possibility of remake: unlikely, unfortunately.

devil may cry

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

Long ago the creator of Devil May Cry, Hideki Kamiya, confessed to fans that he was very interested in a remake of the first chapter of the series, one of the most appreciated hack & slash in videogame history by both critics and audiences. Even if, on balance, the waters have never moved too much about such a statement, so much so that about a year ago Hideaki Itsuno even stated that he was more interested in one Devil May Cry 6 than a remake of the old titles.

Yet, although Devil May Cry 1 in reality it hasn't aged so badly - this must be acknowledged - perhaps keeping its original atmosphere intact, accompanied by a wonderful sound design, Capcom could work more on the old combat system, and add what was positive. developed for the series from the third chapter onwards. Up Devil May Cry 2, instead, there would perhaps be a little more work to do, starting from the story, the gameplay, the rhythm, the background of the characters ... Yes, maybe it would be the latter, compared to the other chapters of the franchise, to have more need a remake. But at the moment, though, the top priority for the company seems to be the horror saga of resident evil.

Possibility of remake: unlikely.

Resident Evil 4

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

Probably the new quality standard for all upcoming remakes, Resident Evil 2 is a tribute and an adaptation that fully reflects the spirit of the original released in 1998. Racoon city remains dangerous and familiar, while the motion controls have been significantly improved, making combat certainly more manageable. And now that the remake of the third chapter has also been released - less appreciated, however, than the second - we can not help but wait for the arrival of the successor.

We trust, in fact, that Resident Evil 4 may be released for PS5 with a promising makeover. The fourth chapter of the saga is after all considered thepinnacle of its franchise and its genre, with its unmistakable claustrophobic atmosphere that still remains among the best interpretations of survival horror of all time. For this reason, the rumors and indiscretions that in the last period have become increasingly insistent regarding its remake - perhaps already in production for a release in 2022 - they don't surprise us that much. And indeed, we are anxiously confident that they will soon have official confirmation.

Possibility of remake: only the official announcement is missing.

Metal Gear Solid

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

Currently Konami doesn't seem very interested in video games outside the line of Pro Evolution Soccer, however, more and more rumors are materializing - quite insistent by the way - that they see Sony intent on acquiring the iconic and essential IP of Silent Hill, Metal Gear e Castlevania. And, in the event that an actual Sony acquisition fails, at least one collaboration with Konami to re-propose exclusively on its next console some remakes (if not even gods reboot) of these titles could really be taken into consideration.

Regarding this, there would be several indiscretions that would see the immortal saga of Metal Gear as protagonist. To be precise, there has been talk for some time about the possibility of an upcoming debut of the remakes of Metal Gear Solid e Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake exclusive to Ps5, with the involvement of Kojima himself. The first 3D installment of the series was released on PlayStation as one of the launch titles, offering players incredible standards (and cinematics): from history, issues, even up to cinematic presentation, which later became a trademark not only for the entire saga, but also for the entire body of works produced by Hideo Kojima. Wouldn't it therefore be a blow to the heart to see a remake - or perhaps a soft reboot - of Metal Gear Solid land as an exclusive at launch, or shortly after, right on Ps5?

Possibility of remake: unlikely at the moment, but who knows.

Ape Escape

PlayStation 5 - The remakes we want on the next generation

Ape Escape is a video game series developed by SCE Japan Studio and published by Sony launched on PlayStation in 1999. The uniqueness and originality of the series, as well as his own funny humor, have made the brand a wonderful memory in the hearts of the most "old", but also a real reference of pop culture and videogames for all the others. The main series anchored years ago on PlayStation 2, and already in 2005 (on PSP) a remake of the very first successful chapter had been launched. It would be nice, however, if a makeover also came out on new generation consoles - and why not, maybe together with its two other successors.

Just about the possible remake, the most die-hard fans have been speculating for some time, especially after the creation of theofficial Twitter account (Japanese) dedicated to 20th anniversary of the series, opened in June last year and still very active with various posts and updates. Initially, tweets had been published that guaranteed the release of "exciting and wonderful" content, full of "important information". Now, beyond a tribute video dedicated to the saga, nothing has been revealed yet, but if even a remake of the first chapter of Ape Escape officially debuted on PS5, the world would go crazy - we are sure of it.

Possibility of remake: there might be some possibility.
