PlayStation 5: the first photos reveal the dimensions of the Sony console

The upcoming new generation console from license plate Sony premiered at the Taiwan National Communications Commission (NCC), which provided us with the first close-up photos of the console in question. L'NCC has published a series of images, which show the PlayStation 5 standard in a horizontal position, the cables included and the detachable base that holds the console in both vertical and horizontal position. The photos also show how big the hardware really is - we learned earlier this week that the PS5 is the largest gaming console in modern history, surpassing even the VCR-like shape. Xbox One and PS3 of the Japanese company.

It is clear from these photos that it will be a challenge to put a PS5 into entertainment centers, just as it will be with the Xbox Series X. Both consoles appear to be designed to stand mostly upright, with a rather bulky look on the sides. Unfortunately, the photos don't offer a close look at exactly how to access the NVMe slot on PlayStation 5: Sony is allowing PS5 owners to expand storage, but we don't have all the details yet on how exactly it will work. The company also claimed that the hardware is customizable in ways that previous generations of PlayStation consoles weren't, so it's possible that at least one PS5 side panel is removable.

For the uninitiated, Sony will launch the console in the US next November 12, at the price of well dollars 499,99, while in Europe it will arrive on the market exactly one week later. Even a second PS5 Digital Edition without reader will be available for dollars 399,99. In addition to this, we advise you to read our article, dedicated to comparison on how the games will run on the two upcoming consoles.
