PlayStation 5: Sony thinks the storage space is sufficient

PlayStation 5: Sony thinks the storage space is sufficient

Interviewed by The Telegraph, Jim Ryan, president and managing director of Sony Interactive Entertainment, is back to talk about PlayStation 5, Sony's next-gen vision will be available starting next year 19st November. Among the issues that most of all spark discussions there is certainly the one related to available storage space from the first start-up of the console guaranteed by Sony's new super fast SSD. As we have already explained, PS5 will offer 667GB of free space ready to use. An amount of space that does not seem sufficient to keep a fair amount of games installed on the console at the same time. Think the only one Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, in the PlayStation 5 version, will come to weigh 133 GB (not counting future expansions).

The Telegraph then asked Ryan if the limited amount of storage space made available to PS5 owners since launch could be a problem. Jim Ryan expressed himself on the matter as follows:

We are not receiving any complaints in this regard. Of course, we'll look at what happens when people open their PlayStation 5 boxes and start using the new consoles. We think everything will be fine. We have been able to microscopically monitor hard drive usage on PS4 and everything we've seen indicates that we shouldn't have any issues.

According to Ryan, therefore, following the studies carried out on collected data relating to the average usage of the PlayStation 4 storage space, the initial 667 GB of free space offered on PlayStation 5 will not represent a problem for owners of the new Sony console. We are not so convinced of this and, in the meantime, we give you some tips on how to save storage space on PS5. Also, here we explain how to store PS5 games on PS4.

Ryan also alarmed fans of the series in the same interview God of War, by not answering the question clearly and unambiguously if God of War Ragnarock will or will not be an exclusive for PlayStation 5.
