PlayStation 5: Sony plans to sell over 7 million by March

It is now just over a month from the arrival in the shops of PlayStation 5, the next generation console of Sony which will rival Xbox Series X e Series S. The Japanese giant places great trust in its new platform, called to repeat the extraordinary success achieved by PS4, which was able to easily overcome the over 100 million units during his successful career. And, according to what emerged from the words of the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Jim Ryan, the company is convinced that it will succeed.

In fact, interviewed by the South Korean site Naver, Ryan stated that Sony expects to be able to exceed the sales achieved by PS4 during its first fiscal year. Launched in November 2013 in the US and Europe and in February 2014 in Japan, PlayStation 4 had already registered 7 million units sold at the end of April 2014. A really important result that, according to Jim Ryan, PS5 would be able to overcome by March 2021. After overcoming the problems related to the alleged deficiency of consoles ready for marketing, the Japanese company has announced that it has made available for the day-one many more units than there were at the debut of the PS4. Also, considering that the next-gen console will be on sale already from 13 November also in Japan, it is easily foreseeable that the volume of PlayStation 5 sold in the Rising Sun on the date indicated by Jim Ryan will be higher than that recorded by PS4 in the time frame previously considered.

Sony's marketing campaign has strongly focused on the exclusives that will arrive on its new console and this, according to some analysts, will allow it to sell more consoles than Microsoft can market over the lifecycle of the two platforms. At this point we just have to wait for November 13 and 19 and analyze the following months to find out if Sony's estimates will find confirmation.
