PlayStation 5 is unstoppable, surpassing the sales of Dreamcast, PS Vita and Wii U

Although PlayStation 5 made its official debut only in the month of November 2020, and even today Sony's next-generation console is hard to find, its sales are booming, even managing to eclipse the results obtained in the United Kingdom of numerous gaming peripherals, including the Dreamcast, PS Vita e Wii U.

According to what emerged from the data shared by GfK Entertainment, in March PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console in the UK for the second consecutive month, surpassing the sales of Wii U, Dreamcast and the PlayStation Vita itself, which had managed to place more than 700.000 units in the UK alone. Despite the excellent results recorded by PS5 and in general by the entire gaming sector (217.268 game consoles were sold), compared to last year there was a decrease of 7,6%.

Here we are. In March in the UK, hardware sales fell slightly year-on-year, and canned software also fell 20%. Not surprising considering the blockade that started in March 2020. Sales of accessories, however, have increased, thanks in part to an increase in PS5 sales.

PS5 has sold over 4,5 million units worldwide starting from January 2021, although at the moment we do not know how many Xbox Series X / S units Microsoft has managed to distribute, given that the Redmond house is quite reluctant to reveal official sales figures.

Here we go. For March in the UK, hardware sales are down slightly year-on-year, and boxed software is down 20%, too. Not surprising considering the lockdown started in March 2020. Accessory sales, however, spiked, thanks to an uptick in PS5 sales https://t.co/KdFOU22MKd
