PlayStation 5: Is a dual GPU version in development?

PlayStation 5: Is a dual GPU version in development?

If there is one thing we have learned from the older generation of consoles, it is that the life cycle of a machine, albeit always of about 6/7 years, can be revised in the course of construction. Get used to restyled versions and nothing else (just think of all versions "Slim" of PlayStation or to Xbox consoles smaller than the original such as One S or 360 Slim), in the course of the eighth generation now past have been released versions updated both in aesthetics and in hardware known as PlayStation 4 Pro e Xbox One X. With the new consoles just released all over the world, Sony however, it already seems to be moving forward with what could be the console between the current and the future generation of PlayStation 5.

According to a patent filed by the Japanese company, it seems that a model with even one dual GPU of PlayStation 5 is currently in development. The patent abstract reads:

In a multi-GPU simulation environment, frame buffer management can be implemented by multiple GPUs rendering the respective frames of the video, or rendering the respective portions of each frame of the video. One of the GPUs controls the HDMI frame output by virtue of receiving frame information from the other GPUs and reading full frames through a physically connected HDMI output port. Or, the GPU outputs can be multiplexed together.

Within the filed patent there also seem to be some words that read "scalable game console" in which "a second GPU coupled in a communicative way to the first GPU". A patent of this type is certainly interesting and could suggest a definable "high-end" PS5 unit in the near future and at a particularly high price given the presence of a dual GPU. In all likelihood, other elements such as CPU frequency clock or more memory could also be revised. Be it the popular nearly $ 1000 version that Jim Ryan had brought up a few days ago? Only the future will tell us.
