PlayStation 5: DualSense drifting costs Sony first class action

In the past few days we have reported to you how several users on reddit were experiencing problems with the new one Dualense di PlayStation 5, mainly relating to a alleged drifting of analogs. Although at the moment the Japanese giant has not expressed itself officially on the matter, the problem prompted the US legal office of Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP to decide to take legal action, announcing a class action complaint against Sony Corporation of America, Inc. and Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC. For the uninitiated, the company in question had previously created a web page where PS5 owners could promptly report this criticality. Furthermore, the legal group has also filed a lawsuit for the aforementioned issue against the Nintendo Switch as well. The lawsuits concerning the phenomenon of Joy-Con drifting they have achieved some victories, so the possibility that the same may also happen in this circumstance cannot be excluded.

According to what emerged from the court filing, presumably it is a manufacturing defect of the Dualense, which compromises the functionality of the controller. The documents also mention problems related specifically to pad drifting, referring to unintended characters or game movements. But that's not all, given that the prosecution reiterates that the Japanese giant was already aware of the criticality, which emerged already in the tests carried out before the official release of the console. At the moment it is unclear whether the much feared drifting of the Dualense di PlayStation 5 concerns a limited number of units, or if it is an inevitable criticality, as has happened in recent years with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con. Waiting to find out more details on how the story will evolve, hoping for an official position by the company, we remind you that Sony plans to distribute more than three million consoles by next March 2021.
