PlayStation 5: are the new covers about to return to the market?

The Dbrand company, specialized in the customization of devices - among which we also see the iPhone -, has announced that it will soon be launching custom cases for PlayStation 5 and he even challenged Sony to threaten her with legal action. This is because, as you may remember, before the launch of the console in question a company based in the United Kingdom decided to market customized bezels for the console, however everything ended much earlier than expected with a legal threat by the Japanese giant. As a result, the faceplate manufacturer had to stop operations before returning to the scene again via a crowdfunding effort.

When a user Reddit asked Dbrand if she was concerned about Sony's answer, the company gave a very dry answer: "We invite you to try". Dbrand's official announcement, which among other things includes a small reference to cyberpunk 2077, it's a fun read, so we'll leave it here for our readers:

As the title of this post suggests, we are now the world leaders in PS5 faceplates. This project has been in the works just before we told you not to buy PlayStation 5 skins. Spoiler alert: that's why we told you not to buy PlayStation 5 skins. After moving a few more chess pieces through four dimensions, we added a new production line at our plastic injection molding facility and we got to work. The skills we have honed over the past few years of Grip case development have positioned our organization in a unique position to create OEM grade bezels - those with all the precision, attention to detail and unnecessarily elaborate packaging you expect from Dbrand.

By the end of the year, we will start mass production on PS5 fronts. However, we will not accept orders until we have stock at our Toronto location ready to ship. If CD Projekt RED has taught us anything, it is that selling products before they are finished is a bad idea. We expect demand to exceed supply at launch, but rest assured that faceplates will be a fixture in our portfolio. This is all from us. Congratulations on surviving 2020. We will try harder in 2021.
