PlayStation 2: some retro-gamers release 700 prototypes of old games

Over 700 prototypes of games for PlayStation 2 were discovered and made available online for free. This was done by a collective, a group of retrogaming enthusiasts who call themselves The Hidden Palace. Prototypes include unfinished or demo versions of classic PlayStation games including Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy X, Okami, Ratchet & Clank, God of War and other. Most software can be played using a PC emulator, and the group says it is currently working on adding even more software via a second wave of titles, which will arrive shortly.

In a live stream held last Saturday, the group showed more than six hours of content, revealing some of the most important images and moments from the gaming past of Sony, including E3 demos of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and Shadow of the Colossus, a prototype of God hand di Capcom, and debug versions of Final Fantasy X-2 e Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2. The group also played preview versions of Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, God Hand, Ratchet & Clank (2002) Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc and other. The collective showed everything through the launch of the Project Deluge, which in the long marathon up on Twitch described the non-profit purposes of this activity.

Project Deluge, however, is not the only initiative promoted by this collective of gamers with the aim of preserving the memory of titles that are in danger of being forgotten. In the past few years, Hidden Palace has discovered a Sonic 3 prototype for Mega Drive and decided, even in that case, to make their discovery completely public to ensure its maximum diffusion among fans. A commendable initiative, which will allow us a nostalgic leap into the past of PlayStation 2 and Sony.
