News a few hours ago, is the one that finally the fourth and final announcement of the list that Platinum Games had anticipated has a date: April 1 2020. On Wednesday we will therefore find out what will be the surprise that the Japanese studio is reserving for us, after the other three "stars" that have arrived in the last few days. In fact, we started with the remastered of The Wonderful 101, then moving on to Project GG and finally arriving at the revelation of Platinum Games Tokyo, the new studio of the great P and which will follow the development of Project GG.
According to the rumors that have followed, there is a possibility that this announcement relates to a new proprietary engine of the Platinum house, even if even in this regard the news is very vague. The hopes of the players and fans of the development house instead go in the direction of Bayonetta 3, of which we have not heard of for long, and for this reason even less likely. Babylon's Fall also seems to have excluded itself, given that according to the latest trailer shown, new information about it will only arrive during the summer.
However, there is a new and tantalizing and plausible theory, according to rumors circulated in recent months, and beyond. There is in fact the possibility that the fourth announcement of Platinum Games is Nier Automata 2, or at least a new title linked to it, always from the same brand.
The rumors began to follow each other during the summer of last year when an insider, just after the fires of E3 2019, stated that the sequel to Nier Automata was already in active work, and that's the same Square Enix had increased the available budget, as well as the members of the development team working on the project. Indiscretions never confirmed, but that made players start fantasizing.
However, it does not end there, because during the month of November, also in 2019, Square Enix has officially registered the trademark of the series in Japan. A new wave of fans, but with a consequent weakening of enthusiasm.
Coming to the last days, we have learned that this announcement seems to be very important to the men of Platinum Games, so much so that it is called “a secret“. This makes us think of something really great, and that above all, if it really were a secret, it is difficult to think that the rumors about an engine have leaked so easily. But there is more.
To give rise to even more coincidences on the theory, finally comes the revelation of the date. This was announced on the site that we reported at the opening, complete with one very small video sequence to present the number "4". Although everything is shown in a fluid way, the number 4 suffers shortly after being shown a particular "disorder", a graphic effect that may seem familiar to say the least:

If you are among those who have been able to enjoy Nier Automata in its entirety, surely you have noticed a certain familiarity with the type of disturbance recreated for the announcement page just shown: that type of disturbance, is the same that manifests itself in 2B when it is affected by the virus, and in general when system errors occur in the characters. In the video below, which we propose as a simple example of the scene with the gameplay excerpt mentioned, if you start from a minute from 3:00 onwards you will clearly see the screen distort as you go, until you present the effect we have described. Once placed next to each other, the comparison is done.
Clearly we are talking only about a theory, a deduction born trying to connect the dots, but if the fourth star actually turns out to be Nier Automata 2 (or indeed a new chapter) it would be truly incredible news for players.
We just have to wait until April 1st, and find out what the surprise is that the studio is holding in store for us… hoping it is not an April Fool.
