Over the last few hours The Wrap has confirmed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt e Cynthia Erivo have officially joined the cast of Pinocchio, the director's new live action film Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) based on the classic animation released in 1940 directed by various directors, produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the novel by Carlo Collodi. The two famous actors will respectively play the role of Jiminy Cricket and Fairy Godmother in the film that will no longer arrive at the cinema, but will be released directly on the Disney + streaming platform.
The two famous actors join a cast that includes within it Tom Hanks in the role of Geppetto e Luke Evans in that of the Coachman. Furthermore, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who previously starred in Flora and Ulysses and The Haunting of Bly Manor, will voice Pinocchio, the puppet who dreamed of becoming a real boy, with Keegan-Michael Key as the voice of the Fox e Lorraine Bracco as the voice of Sofia the Seagull, a new character that will be introduced into the story.
As we have already anticipated, the film will be directed by Robert Zemeckis, already author of some famous films such as Forrest Gump and Back to the Future and was written by Zemeckis himself and Chris Weitz. Production will start this month in the UK and the film will debut on Disney +, the company's streaming service, instead of passing through cinemas due to the current health emergency that is literally bringing the entire entertainment sector to its knees. Andrew Miano and Weitz are producing through their company, Depth of Field along with Zemeckis' Imagemovers. We just have to wait for more information on the title, which joins the list of live action released by Walt Disney, among which we can find Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Cruella and many others.
