Outriders: the new trailer announces the official release date

Through a video trailer released over the last few hours, Square Enix officially announced the release date of Outriders, the brand new third-person shooter from People Can Fly, which will come on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (Steam and Epic), Google Stadia and on next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X the next February 2 2021. In the end, the recent rumors that had foreseen the postponement of the title to next year have proved correct, and have been confirmed through a brand new trailer of the game, which shows more details on the fights, enemies and settings of the title. At the same time, the short video announces that the cross-play will be available across all platforms at launch and with Stadia when the game also arrives on that platform during the 2021.

The release date of the title, initially scheduled for the launch of the new generation consoles, has been postponed due to some problems that have affected the development studio, in addition to the inevitable slowdowns due to work in smart-working mode, one of the many regulations adopted to counter the spread of the health emergency due to Covid-19. The development team, through a statement published on the official website of Square Enix, specified that the main title is largely complete, but that the testing phases were greatly affected by the situation, to the point that they could not allow the title to be released on schedule. In addition, the team said that users who purchase the title for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will receive an update for free for the transition to next-generation consoles. Here is part of the statement released by the team:

We can now confirm that Outriders will officially release on February 2, 2021 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam and Epic). We will also be releasing the title on Stadia later in 2021. It was our full intention to deliver Outriders to you during the 2020 holiday period. COVID-19 has certainly affected our operations in recent months, but all teams have worked very hard to adapt to the changing circumstances. While the main game is now in a largely complete state, our test operations were sadly among the hardest hit by the restructuring of the work process caused by the novel coronavirus. To that end, we need a little more time to get it right and make sure the Outriders experience is as smooth and hassle-free as it could be at launch. It is our top priority to provide you with the best and most complete Outriders experience possible, at all costs. We are also very happy to announce that Outriders will support a full cross-play experience, allowing you to play the full game with your friends and other players, no matter what system they are on. In addition, we will offer everyone a free update of the game from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and with Smart Delivery and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X | S. This means that you can purchase and play Outriders on your current platform with the confidence that it will be there for you when you decide to make the leap to the next generation of your respective console.
