Anyone who is even marginally interested in the world of Android smartphone is now used to the tendency of many Chinese manufacturers to literally flood the market with models that often differ little from each other. In this OPPO Reno 6 Pro review however, we are talking about a case that really brings this situation to the limit, since it is a device that it is very difficult to distinguish from that OPPO Find X3 Neo that we had the opportunity to positively evaluate on these pages.
If it is true that thinking badly very often gets it right, it would be a real "cunning" by OPPO, which would place at a not insignificant list price of 799,99 Euros a terminal substantially identical to the one released six months ago and which in the meantime can be found peacefully at 250 euros less in the various online stores. It must be said that until October 20 OPPO Reno 6 Pro enjoys a particularly advantageous promotion that allows you to take home a pair of OPPO Enco X, an OPPO Band Style and a silicone cover, as well as a free gift with the phone. 3 months extra warranty for any damage caused to the screen.
Putting these considerations aside for a moment, however, let's find out what are the characteristics of a device that, taken for what it is, proves to be a very reliable medium / high-end Android smartphone with several tricks up its sleeve.
The beating heart of OPPO Reno 6 Pro is a flaming processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, which is nothing more than the overclocked version of the 865 model. We are talking about a 3,2 GHz SoC with a 7-nanometer production process, which is accompanied by an Adreno 650 GPU, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage space and an X55 5G modem. It is clear that we are faced with a technical data sheet that has little to envy to the top of the range made and finished, complete also in terms of connectivity thanks to support for 5G networks, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and the NFC chip for payments. Among the few things missing from OPPO Reno 6 Pro, we point out the absence of the 3,5 mm audio jack, a renunciation now supported by almost all Chinese smartphones and of which we sincerely do not feel like crying.

Smartphones of Chinese origin traditionally do not shine for the originality of the design, but OPPO Reno 6 Pro manages to go even further, revealing itself substantially indistinguishable from the "twin" OPPO Find X3 Neo, starting from almost identical dimensions and weight equal to 160,8 x 72,5 x 7,99 mm for 188 grams . Although it is not really compact, the device is easy to handle and pleasant to the touch, thanks also to the particular finish of the glass of the back cover that gives it an almost rough appearance, also equipped with an excellent oleophobic treatment that does not retain fingerprints. Nothing that has not already been seen at OPPO, including the peculiarity of the iridescent body that slightly changes color depending on the direction of the light, an aspect this however more evident in the Arctic Blue color compared to the Lunar Gray that we received for the review.
That said, it cannot be said that OPPO Reno 6 Pro is not a pleasant smartphone, perfectly assembled and made with materials quality. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 curved on the sides, the frame is in aluminum and has on the right side the power button and on the left the volume controls, while the upper part houses the ear capsule and the lower one. a second microphone, the speaker, the USB-C port and the trolley that contains a maximum of two nanoSIMs but no microSD, as the internal memory is not expandable.
The front camera punch hole is located in the upper left corner of the screen, while the fingerprint sensor is located at the bottom. Again, however, OPPO takes a blow on the hands for the lack of IP68 certification against water and dust, presenting only a trivial resistance to splashes: a gap difficult to digest for a device sold at this price.
Il of OPPO Reno 6 Pro is a 6,55-inch diagonal AMOLED, 20: 9 aspect ratio and Full HD + 1080 x 2400 resolution. It is an excellent panel that returns brilliant images and deep blacks, with curved edges that increase the feeling of amplitude. Also very good brightness (1100 nit the declared peak value) which makes it readable in practically all conditions, while the two sensors on the back of the smartphone that help the screen to adapt to the ambient brightness and color are functional.
Il refresh rate maximum supported is 90 Hz, a setting that increases fluidity going a bit to erode battery life (there is however an option to lock it at 60 Hz) with touch sampling reaching 180 Hz instead: good values but now overtaken by more than a few recent competitors and which for this reason do not constitute a particular added value. Also present is the Always on feature, which can be customized in different ways and with some tasty gems such as the one that allows you to transform photos of people into silhouettes.
The extreme similarity between OPPO Reno 6 Pro and OPPO Find X3 Neo continues even when you go to compare the specifications of the cameras, discovering that in fact they are identical or almost identical. The main sensor it is in fact the same 766 MP Sony IMX50 of the previous model, which is flanked by a 16 MP wide-angle lens, a 2x 13 MP telephoto lens and a 2 MP macro lens. Same setup, same judgment: OPPO Reno 6 Pro allows you to take excellent photos in any light condition, thanks to a correct allocation of HDR and artificial intelligence and a truly performing night mode.
L'photographic application of OPPO is simple and complete, quick in shooting and precise in focusing. If we exclude an execution of the bokeh effect that is not always impeccable, the main and wide-angle cameras do not lend themselves to any particular criticality, while the most demanding part of the public could find something to complain about the not extraordinary zoom of the telephoto and the too low resolution. of the macro: however, these are two aspects that are, after all, secondary and which do not affect the normal daily use of the camera. The yield of the front sensor 32 MP, complete with all the essential filters for social selfies and a fairly effective portrait mode.
La video recording with OPPO Reno 6 Pro reaches the maximum values of 4K to 60 FPS using the main and 4K at 30 FPS with the wide angle, both results can be achieved by sacrificing the range of electronic stabilization, which instead increases by lowering the resolution to the threshold of Full HD. However, these are performances that are more than appreciable and which are accompanied by some features designed to make your shots more fun: this is the case of double shooting, recording in the dark or a particular bokeh mode with flare effect; nice and pleasant additions but which are unlikely to change the life of those who love making videos with their smartphone. The mode dedicated to shooting is however simple and complete at the same time, able to satisfy the most diverse needs. Finally, it should be noted to the aspiring creators that the front camera reaches a maximum of 30 FPS.
The total capacity of the battery of OPPO Reno 6 Pro is 4500 mAh, a value that joins the usual, excellent optimization work of the Chinese manufacturer to allow a solid autonomy: you arrive at the end of the day even with an intense use of the device, with an average of 5 hours of active display and continuous use of 16 hours. It is also interesting that the battery is composed of two modules of 2250 mAh each, an aspect that acts in communion with the65W fast power supply included in the package to ensure particularly fast recharges: the Supervooc 2.0 technology allows you to bring the phone from 0 to 100% in about forty minutes, an excellent value even if not the best ever in the panorama of the most recent Android smartphones. On the other hand, unjustified absent wireless charging: at certain prices, if having it is not a moral obligation, we are close to it.
When there is a Qualcomm SoC under the hood, performance is guaranteed and OPPO Reno 6 Pro is no exception with its Snapdragon 870: i benchmarking that we have performed, in fact, highlight scores very close to those of models that are equipped with more valuable processors, such as OnePlus 9 Pro with its Snapdragon 888: also thanks to a resource optimization process that has always been one of the distinctive points of the company compared to its competitors. In this case, the great work of the device's cooling system, capable of keeping temperatures under control in situations of greater stress, should be noted.
Experience of use
The proverbial added value, however, is represented by the user interface coloros, arrived at version 11.3: it is certainly one of the best interpretations of Android 11 in circulation and which confirms all its qualities on OPPO Reno 6 Pro. Simple and complete at the same time, the UI of the Chinese company excels in terms of customization, allowing you to put your hand to practically every aesthetic element, even touching the shape and animation of the fingerprint sensor or the color and type of lighting. edges of the phone. Also appreciable are the proprietary applications of OPPO among which Relax stands out, useful for detaching a little from the smartphone with the help of a good variety of relaxing sounds and images.
OPPO Reno 6 Pro can be an extremely reliable partner for enjoying content as well streaming video through platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video or Disney +. The generous size of the display, its curved edges, the 20: 9 aspect ratio and the format support HDR10 + these are all elements that combine to offer a respectable visual experience. It does not hurt that the device is light and comfortable to hold in the hand just enough to guarantee a decent comfort even for rather prolonged sessions. The audio system is good, with the main speaker that develops a clean sound and is assisted by the ear capsule (perhaps in a slightly light but still appreciable way) to obtain a valid stereo effect, with the icing on the cake of compatibility with the standard Dolby Atmos.
Even when used as a device by Gaming, OPPO Reno 6 Pro allows you to take off some great satisfaction. The Snapdragon 870 and the Adreno 650 GPU develop enough horsepower in the engine to make it travel smooth as oil and with maximum detail heavy titles such as Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG, Genshin Impact or Asphalt 9. The good ergonomics and the very valid system audiovisual that we have already talked about in the previous paragraphs play an important role also in this case, but OPPO Reno 6 Pro has some other cards to play. First of all, the presence of the Games dedicated mode which allows you to collect all the titles, maximize performance and manage a variety of parameters related to notifications and more. The effective vapor chamber cooling system also prevents the phone from getting too hot during gaming sessions, and a top-of-the-line vibration motor ensures convincing haptic feedback.

Taken individually, OPPO Reno 6 Pro is certainly a very valid Android smartphone: aesthetically pleasing, well assembled and optimized, with a level technical data sheet and good cameras for all occasions, it has many advantages and few and all in all negligible defects. The problem is its positioning on the market, beyond a too high list price which is almost a characteristic of the brand: OPPO Reno 6 Pro is in fact a practically indistinguishable twin of OPPO Find X3 Neo, released in the first months of the year. and now available at a much lower street price than this model. Difficult, in light of this so obvious aspect, dispassionately recommend the purchase of OPPO Reno 6 Pro in the absence of particularly advantageous promotions.
- Quality design, materials and assembly
- ColorOS and top optimization
- Good cameras and autonomy
- Price too high
- IP certification and wireless charging are missing
- Virtually identical to OPPO Find X3 Neo
