Oculus Rift S and Quest finally available on the market

Oculus Rift S and Quest finally available on the market

On May 21, Oculus has officially put on the market its new viewers for augmented reality: Oculus Rift S e Oculus Quest All-in-one; the latter available in two memory sizes. But let's go in order.

Oculus Rift S

The first viewer features improved Fresnel lenses, a fast-switching LCD display that significantly reduces glare and the screen door effect to offer the user a more engaging and satisfying experience; it also has a total resolution of 2560 × 1440 (1280 × 1440 per eye) and offers 42% more pixels than its previous version. Thanks to the new Touch controllers and the cameras on the front, the viewer will be able to perform room-scale tracking exactly like Oculus Quest; the use of a PC, either fixed or portable, is required, with relative minimum requirements that you can see in the image below.

The cost is  € 449.

Oculus Quest All-in-one

This second "independent" viewer, on the other hand, does not require cables or a PC to function, but simply a smartphone to be able to make a first configuration. Inside we find the aforementioned Touch controllers and an OLED display with a refresh rate of 72 Hz, a total resolution of 2880 × 1600 (1440 × 1600 per eye), an Oculus all-in-one 6DOF VR gaming system based on Snapdragon 835, equipped with an Oculus Insight tracking system that uses certain sensors on the viewer to accurately track your movements and instantly translate them into VR. Available in 2 memory variants: the first with 64 GB for the price of 449 €, the second with 128 GB for the price of 549 €.

Recall that the Rift S is compatible with the same software library as the Rift and requires a PC with Windows 10 installed, while for the Quest over 50 playable titles will be available from launch. On the official website store you can also buy the travel case to always carry it around in total safety.
