No Time to Die: Apple and Netflix want to buy the film

As you will know a few weeks ago MGM e Universal they moved the new movie of James Bond No Time to Die al April 2 2021, since the latest wave of COVID-19 has convinced the producers of the film that there are still no favorable conditions for the theatrical release. That move came a few days after the choice by Disney to postpone most of the films in the program, in particular Black Widow which was scheduled for release on November 6 but was moved to May 2021.

Apparently, however, the theatrical release of the film directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga it is not so obvious. Bloomberg in fact he reports that MGM has entered into discussions with Apple e Netflix to bring No Time to Die directly to a streaming service in the not too distant future. The studio, however, claims it is busy with a theatrical release. The site explains that the James Bond film could potentially fetch hundreds of millions of dollars in a potential streaming sale, even though MGM claims the film "is not on sale". A representative issued a statement stating:

The film's release has been postponed to April 2021 in order to preserve the in-room experience for viewers.

No Time to Die cost approx 250 million dollars, so if MGM was going to sell it it would have to get at least a figure equal to the cost of production. It must be said that, given the results of Tenet and given the restrictions around the world, a theatrical release even in April could lead to Tenet's less-than-exciting takings, which could still be a loss. It is a delicate situation that is constantly evolving and we can only wait to see how it will evolve in the coming weeks (or months).
